Circuit Judge Carmen Brooks Drake to take oath Dec. 29 December 15, 2022 An investiture ceremony for new Sixth District Circuit Judge Carmen Brooks Drake will be held Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. on the second floor of the Adams County Courthouse in Natchez. 
Judge Deborah McDonald of the Mississippi Court of Appeals will administer the oath of office. Guest speakers will include retired Sixth District Circuit Judge Forrest “Al” Johnson, Chancellor Vincent Davis and Natchez attorney Anthony “Tony” Heidelberg. Judge-elect Drake, 51, of Natchez, was elected Nov. 29. She will take the position previously held by Circuit Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders, who did not seek reelection. She has served as Adams County Prosecutor since January 2019. She worked as a public defender 2008-2018, and was Youth Court defender and a guardian ad litem 2006-2008. She served as Port Gibson Municipal Court Judge 2017 - 2018 and as Port Gibson City Attorney 2018 - 2022. She represented the Jefferson County Hospital and Nursing Home and was board attorney for Jefferson Comprehensive Health Center, Inc. She is CEO of AJFC Community Action Agency, Inc. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Jackson State University and a law degree from George Washington University Law School. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is married to Reginald Drake. They have one daughter. Across the state, 18 new trial judges will take their oaths of office in ceremonies scheduled during the next few days. New judges include eight new County Court judges, three new Chancery Court judges, and seven new Circuit Court judges. New judicial terms for County, Chancery and Circuit Court judges begin on Jan. 1, 2023. #### |
